CARMEL VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

ENROLLMENT
Students must be at least 16 years of age and not older than 18 years of age.
Prospective students must live in the boundaries of Carmel Unified School District
and attend an entrance interview with the principal at school with theri parent(s)
or guardian(s). Enrollment is limited to 40 students.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
Students are considered to have a probationary status for one semester. If during
that time there is a consensus of opinion among the staff that the student is
not benefiting from enrollment at CVHS, the parent(s) or guardian(s) will be
requested to meet with the principal to determine if an alternative placement
would be more appropriate.
LUNCH PROGRAM
School lunches are available every day and must be ordered from the school secretary
before 9:30 a.m. Lunches will be distributed to students at 12:15 p.m.
GRADE REPORTING
CVHS issues mid-quarter progress reports and a quarterly report card.
CREDITS
Every student earns credits by completing lessons in each class. Completion
of individual work, independent P.E., work experience credits, and coursework
at MPC will generate additional credit. All credit can be used to fulfill graduation
requirements. The expectation is for students to earn a minimum of 3.0 credits
per class or 12 credits per quarter.
HOMEWORK
Students are responsible for completing 1-1/2 hours of homework per school night
to stay on track for graduation..
WORK EXPERIENCE
Credit is granted to students who are employed on a regular basis. Credits are
based upon the number of hours worked. Twenty hours per week earns five credits
per semester; forty hours per week earns 10 credits per semester.
INDEPENDENT P.E.
Credit can be earned for off-campus activities. Prior teacher approval and parent
verification is required.
VISITORS
All visitors must check in with the principal or school secretary upon arrival.
It is school policy to discourage non-students from visiting CVHS. Any exceptions
must be cleared in advance with the principal. Individuals providing transportation
to students are expected to schedule their arrival to coincide with the student's
12:15 p.m. dismissal time.
PHONE USE
Use of the school phone is for emergencies only. Students must
make transportation arrangements prior to coming to school. Unanticipated necessary
communications regarding work, medical appointments, etc. must be placed through
our school secretary.
